Who is eligible?
VOF grant applications are open to:
- Members of the AOA Victorian Branch.
- Applicants must be the Lead Investigator for their research project. They must be a Fellow of AOA in their first 10 years since attaining FRACS, or trainees/Associate members
- Young and emerging researchers are especially encouraged to apply.
What does VOF fund?
VOF grants can be used to fund a range of research-related activities, including:
- laboratory or clinical basic science orthopaedic-related research, including bio-mechanical research into orthopaedic applications, molecular biology and/or anatomical studies
- preventative options, new treatments, screening and diagnostic techniques or clinical outcome studies
- applied science studies including pain management and operative intervention trials
- other research that is directly relevant to the practice of orthopaedic surgery in Australia, such as a cost or meta-analysis
How to apply
Step 1

Step 2
Download and complete the 2025 VOF Grant Application Form (PDF).
Please ensure you download and complete the 2025 VOF Grant Application Form Sections 2 (part 6-7), Section 3, and Section 4 (.docx) and attach as a word document to your PDF application.

Progress reports

Request for variation
Requests for variation to a VOF grant must be submitted in writing to research@aoa.org.au. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
